About Rescues Roaming
Real life with rescue dogs — the adventures, the challenges, and everything in between.
How It Started
I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my nan had three Labradors and I followed them everywhere.
After years of begging, we finally got our own dog — a black Labrador called Keesha. She was everything. Well trained, gentle, and slowly became the princess of the house.
We had her until she was 13, and losing her was harder than I expected. Even though I didn’t live at home anymore, it left a space that felt impossible to fill. Not having a dog around just didn’t feel right.
Choosing To Rescue
For years, I always said if I got my own dog, it would be a rescue.
I’d seen too many stories, too many street dogs while travelling — it stuck with me. I knew I had the time, patience, and love to give a dog a proper life.
But getting there wasn’t easy.
As a single parent with a young daughter at the time, I kept getting overlooked by UK rescues. It felt like no one was willing to take a chance.
Until something finally worked out.
Marley
Through a family connection, I was put in touch with a Greek rescue. After a few photos and a quick chat, I was going to meet a dog.
He wasn’t what I thought I was looking for at first, but the second I met him, I knew.
Marley chose me — and I chose him.
I brought him home that same day.
He completely changed my life. I’ve struggled with my mental health since I was young, and having him gave me a reason to get up, get out, and keep going, even on the harder days.
The Pack
A few years later, while on holiday in Cyprus, I came across another rescue — a little girl with a big personality.
She’s now part of the family too. A bit spicy, a bit chaotic, but completely ours.
Now it’s the three of us.
Why Rescues Roaming Exists
Rescues Roaming started as a way to share our life — the walks, the camping trips, the adventures, and the real, everyday moments in between.
But it’s also about something bigger.
I want to show people, especially those who feel alone, that it is possible.
You can get the dog.
You can go on that walk.
